FranklinLife - Local Singer/Songwriter Gaining Fame in China

Angie Mayes, Staff Writer

Singer/songwriter Jackson Wells is making a name for himself in Nashville, but the Leiper’s Fork resident has also built a growing fan base in China. Wells, who is from Los Angeles, moved to Middle Tennessee five years ago. He is a junior at Belmont University with a songwriting major and a Chinese minor. “I started taking Chinese in the seventh grade because I was sick of taking Spanish,” he said. “Little did I know it would help my musical career. I chose Belmont because it has a good Chinese program, and that is a good contrast with my songwriting degree and gives me something to fall back on.”
